About the Centre of Community ArchivesWe are a public institution of culture in Poland founded in 2020, dedicated to supporting community archives—grassroots initiatives whose goal is to preserve history. We share knowledge, inspire, and create tools.
We support the process of setting up and developing of community archives.
We provide tools for securing and disseminating collections.
We help bring archivists together and inspire one another.
Activities of the Centre of Community Archives
We support the establishment of new community archives and the activities of existing ones. We do not run archives ourselves, but we create tools and help build networks.
Workshops and trainingWe provide training on processing and digitizing archival material and recording oral history accounts. We teach how to set-up a community archive and develop it by engaging the local community.
Promoting community archivesWe promote the activities of community archives by writing about their projects, exhibitions and publications, which are based on the collected materials.
Developing digital toolsWe develop tools—such as the Open Archive System (OSA) and the Community Collections portal—which support the daily operation of community archives.
Organizing eventsWe help community archivists get together and connect with others who share similar passions.
Developing publicationsWe develop educational and strategic materials whose goal is to help community archives.
Expert adviceWe offer expert advice, create know-how, and develop support programs for community archives.
